So today I spent most of the day at our house with Armen. My mom nicely agreed to watch the girls in the afternoon so I could put in some quality time with Armen and help him make some house progress. Progress was made, which is good, I am just amazed at how hard we work for so long and when you call it quits for the day it really doesn't look like that much. We tore off a bunch of siding on the house and ripped off some of the old wooden siding underneath that so that the joists/framing of the current house were exposed so we have places to attach the walls and roof of the new addition. After that he and I built one wall. When I left the wall was still on the ground, not up in place yet, and I don't think that is going to happen till tomorrow. It's coming...it's just taking time...lots of time. I think tomorrow's goal is to get the remaining 3 walls framed and up and hopefully decked as well so that we can water proof them to some degree. That is always the trick mid project...keeping the things that shouldn't be wet, dry. Thus far it's been going alright. I am hoping to be able to find someone to watch the girls again tomorrow so that I can help him again, we'll see. My mom says she is willing depending on a few things, so who knows...maybe it will happen.
We're also hoping for me to be back in the house with him and the girls in the next couple weeks. Things remaining till that step can occur:
-plumbing inspection/gas turned back on (so we have hot water)
-HVAC for main level installed/upstairs hooked back up (should happen in the next week or 2 hopefully)
-some wiring needs to get redone...so we have things like a stove... :)
Actually...that's about it...the house will still be kind of a pit...but the goal is to to get it to a point where we have the ability to heat/cool it, cook, and survive in the upstairs portion of our home. That means we will have to do some cleaning upstairs and move boxes out of one of the rooms so the girls have extra space to play...oh yeah and baby gates...invest in several of those...but other than that...it will basically be like us living in a 3 bedroom apartment for awhile till we can get downstairs functional and cleaned back to liveable standards...which is still going to be awhile.
So...there's the day's progress. Not bad...it's coming...it's just kinda slow...but that's ok...it's coming. And as long as it's closed in before snow flies...we're golden....and we're getting REALLY close to being near that point. :) Pictures of today's progress to come...they are on the camera which is currently still at the house since I forgot it there...
