So, we had the girls' 15 month appointment today. I was braced for a fight walking into the office and had prepared backup/moral support (my mother in law). I had taken the girls in at about 14 months for a weight check because in the dr's words, my girls are falling off the charts. At that appointment Cordi weighed in just fine, and they said they are no longer worried about her. Ari, however, they informed me that if she did not gain more weight they would want to start to consider testing for her. The testing is not difficult, it's a blood draw...but if you know Ari, you know that would NOT be fun for anyone, nor would it result in good appointments for the years to come. Plus, I REALLY don't want to go down that road. I am confident she is healthy, happy, growing, learning and sure there is nothing wrong with her. So...needless to say, I was sure I was in for a battle. I asked my mother in law to be there as she has experience with small children...meaning...she has atleast 3 children that have been/are built like Ari....genetics plays a role.
We weighed in...
Ari:
17lbs 8oz
30 inches tall
Cordi:
18lbs 3oz
29.5 inches tall
In their words, Ari had gained enough weight they were not concerned...they said she gained a pound in a month and they were content. Cordi, she gained more than a pound as well...they are still happy with her growth. Everything else checked out great, they both walked for the dr, we did get them to make some animal noises for her, and overall they did not get too upset during the appointment...one of the better appointments.
I do enjoy that their trend continues...Ari is always about a half to and inch taller than Cordi and Cordi is always around a half to a pound heavier than Ari. It continues to show me how different their little bodies are wired, how differently and uniquely God has made them and how completely differently they are built. Genetics is such a neat thing...God does great work!
After I got home, I looked over the charts (previous appointments etc) and found Ari has NOT gained over a pound in the last month...in fact she only gained 5oz in the last month. She has gained over a pound in the last 3 months...but not the last month. Cordi, she has gained 2 pounds in the last 3 months, and a pound in the last month. I repeat, I am NOT concerned. Again, if you know Ari you know 1-she is an ACTIVE child, she does not cuddle, will not sit still and runs constantly 2-she is Armen's daughter...she is built like daddy, and I feel she has daddy's metabolism which up till his mid 20's he could not/did not pack on any weight 3-the child is NOT developmentally behind...she runs, she talks (over 20 words she knows and adding every day) and she is way too smart for her own good....seriously.
So, I wait..to see if they call me and change their opinion, or if we make it to 17 months (our next vaccine appointment) without any issues. They will do a weigh in at their vaccine appointment as well, just to make sure they are both continuing their curve.
Until then...I am thankful, thankful that God has blessed me with 2 amazing daughters. That He continues to grow them and guide them. I am thankful that they are learning and such a blessing to watch grow. I am SO thankful for His blessing me with these girls and I will continue to protect and raise them the best I can within His will. I think that is my battle with the drs...they know a lot...but ultimately, they are my responsibility before God and I want to care for them as He wants me to, not how the "books" tell them is right. I am lead by the Lord not by their "charts".
Other things...
Cordi has added "Hi" or "Hey" to her vocabulary...it's hilarious, she sounds like a guy when she says "hey"...it's drawn out and very deep. So cute! Cordi LOVES spagetti...LOVES it...she inhaled an almost adult sized portion the other night in under 5 minutes...impressive...she got mommy's taste buds apparently.
Ari has added "cracker" to her vocabulary...in regards to the food, not the slang version....hoping she does not pick up on that one. :) She has also changed her version of "shoe" from "ge" (don't ask...I don't know) to actually "shoe". She also loves broccoli, I gave her broccoli mixed in with a fettucini alfredo kind of thing, and she picked out the broccoli and left the noodles...she apparently is NOT a big spagetti fan.

So..."cracker" huh? Is the slang term something you use a lot around your house? Just kidding! That totally cracked me up! So glad the apointment went well. Those little girlies are blessed to have a Momma who cares so much about them and loves every little ounce of them!
