Gramps' 92nd Birthday

My amazing gramps and his black forest birthday cake...
Saturday my gramps turned 92.  There was a party, albiet a small party, which I am a bit miffed about but for the sake of my sanity, frustration and anger levels...I will not go into that.  Suffice to say my folks had the flu and my brother chose not to attend.  His Birthday is a huge thing to me, as gramps is officially on hospice and has been living with my folks for the last 8 months.  I love this man, I cannot say that enough.  My family is unique...well atleast different.  I never knew my dad's family so, when it comes to grandparents I have one set and that has given me a real appreciation for the ones I have/had.  My grandma passed away back in January of 2006 and that was one of the hardest things I have gone through...and well the last 8 months or so I am slowly dealing with the emotional issues of losing my gramps in the future. That too has given me an appreciation and a sense of importance of things in life...in celebrating the small moments, in savoring the time we are given no matter what.  I want my girls to know their great-grandpa, though there is a good chance they will not remember him...so...I am a bit picture happy when family events occur so they will have as many pictures together as possible.  SO, Happy Birthday gramps, I love you...and here are some of the pics from the day...

A couple of older memories...Some of these have been posted before...but I just like putting things in order, plus it's a fun age progression of the girls and a great trip down memory lane for me...Also, serious kudos (not that it's that hard) if you can tell when my point and shoot died and we bought my SLR.  :)
